Our state-of-the-art, operator-less, infrared cold-joint heaters are entirely made of stainless steel. The various grades and types of steel have been carefully chosen according to their application and heat resistance. The metals vary from specialty steel for the 1875 ºF infrared emitters, stainless steel for burners and heat chamber to mild steel for some mounting brackets. The blower motor assembly is made of aluminum.

The operator station control boxes, both the main one mounted on the heater and the smaller box at the paver operator’s station, are made of coated steel and are completely sealed against the elements. The control switches are of the highest quality and feature unbreakable polycarbonate lenses and LED lights. The CJ-160 Series is built tough to handle the demands of a no-nonsense jobsite.

The complete CJ-160 S weighs less than two 100# propane reservoirs. Although normally mounted directly to the paver, a single man can easily manoeuvre the CJ-160 independently on the jobsite thanks to our quick attach dollies. Highway trailers are also available. The CJ-160 Series is lightweight and highly manoeuvrable.

CJ-MATIC Automatic Controls

We supply proprietary fully automatic, paver interfaced controls for the cold joint heater. All control boxes are painted steel and water proof. All signal lights are LEDs and lenses are of polycarbonate. Our design features:

• Auto Start/Stop Performed by our custom designed paver interface. Available for virtually all paver brands.
• Auto Electronic Ignition Instantaneous on paver forward motion.
• Auto Delay Shut-Down. Available variable delay on shut-down to allow for changing trucks without stopping the CJ-160 cold joint heater.
• Low pressure vapour propane gas. Much safer than high pressure liquid propane. All components CGA, CSA & UL approved.
• Multiple pavers can be pre-wired to receive the cold-joint heater.
• Safety Shut-down controls: 100% automatic gas and electrical safety shut-downs with a single “mushroom” switch.
• Rapid Mount 5 minute paver mount and dismount. Custom mounts on request.

The Physics of Infrared Heat

 The short version is simple: The higher the temperature of the infrared emitter the more heat is generated. No one can repeal the laws of physics, but understanding them is the key to understanding infrared heat. For this reason, we designed and build every one of our proprietary infrared heat converters in our  factory.  The BTU/hr rating of  burners is a measure of their fuel consumption not of their fuel efficiency. Sort of like rating the performance of an engine solely on the amount of gas it burns. Caveat Emptor boys and girls!
